Ignorance Isn't Bliss.

Almost every era of human history has been plagued by evil. There have been groups so sinister, that their only goal is to hurt the innocent. Nazi Germany, Joseph Stalin’s Soviet Union, Pol Pot’s Cambodian Empire, and the Mao Dynasty in China to name a few. Besides the horrific actions that these groups performed, there is one thing that they all have in common: They have all been defeated. Time and time again mankind has proven that good triumphs over evil and that these horrible groups can not survive. However, we are on the dawn of a new era and a new evil has arisen. Now this evil has been around for centuries, but it has just started becoming more and more of a threat to us all. That evil is Radical Islamic Terrorism, and the face of this philosophy is the Islamic State of Syria and Iraq, otherwise known as ISIS. ISIS threatens western civilization’s very existence, yet the biggest part of this threat isn’t the philosophy itself nor is it the followers of it. It is our blindness to it. We as Americans are ignorant to just how dangerous ISIS is. I believe that it’s because we don’t truly understand ISIS. We hear about terrorist attacks in the news all of the time. For example, during the annual Bastille Day fireworks celebration in the southern French City of Nice back on July 14, 2016, a man who is shown to have ties with ISIS plowed into the crowd of people with a truck. The attack claimed more than 80 lives. Britain has suffered numerous attacks of this caliber this past summer and so has Spain relatively recently. This shows what ISIS is capable of. But what exactly is ISIS? What is their philosophy? These are questions that many Americans, including our own government, don’t truly understand. This article will hopefully give you a better understanding of what exactly ISIS is and what their radicalized Islamic philosophy is all about.

The biggest misconception that Americans have about ISIS is that it is just like Osama Bin Laden’s al-Qaeda, the terrorist group that is responsible for 9/11. However, ISIS follows a much more ancient set of beliefs. ISIS originated as al-Qaeda in Iraq in 2004, but then restructured itself as the Islamic State in 2006. ISIS is extremely similar to Bin Laden’s al-Qaeda, however, the Islamic State follows a much more ancient set of Islamic beliefs. Followers of ISIS have been shown to reference Osama Bin Laden as “Sheikh Osama,” which is an ancient Islamic title of honor, to this day. The structure of the ISIS organization is actually extremely similar to that of modern democratic governments. It is a bureaucratic hierarchy very much like our own government. A big difference being the Islamic State replaces Democracy with a council to determine who will be beheaded next. The ancient philosophy that ISIS follows sounds like that of a horror film. They dress in medieval wear and though seem to be modern, are actually hoping to return civilization to the 17th century era, and eventually, bring about the apocalypse. Author Graeme Wood decided to track down ISIS recruiters and get a better understanding of what exactly ISIS stood for. His findings were shocking. Members of the Islamic State tend to speak in code which many modernized Muslims don’t understand. This is actually ancient Islam from the first texts from the Prophet Muhammad. Most of ISIS’ threats are actually a mix of biblical acts with modern threats thrown in. For example, ISIS’ chief spokesman, Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, called for Muslims in Western countries such as France, Canada, and the United States to “find an infidel and destroy his crops, bash his head in with a stone, and run him over with his car.” These threats seem morbid but are classic biblical threats with a modern threat, the running him over with a car, thrown in. Crop destruction and stoning were very common in biblical times and adding in the modern car part adds to the horrific imagery of an ISIS threat. The truth that many people in the world refuse to believe is that ISIS is Islamic. In fact, it is extremely Islamic. Now yes, ISIS has attracted psychopaths and from a distance, doesn’t seem to reflect Islamic beliefs at all. Yet if you look deeper into the ISIS organization, you will find that at the center of all of the craziness is that ancient Islamic belief system. Islam is not a religion of peace, and ISIS proves this. However, the United States has refused to accept this. Our own former President Obama refuses to even accept that this group is Islamic at all! This is why ISIS is becoming more of a threat than ever. It is due to our own ignorance and blatant disregard for this radical Islamic group. If we want to defeat ISIS and terrorism, then we must first accept it for what it is: ISIS is radical Islamic Terrorism. Not all Islam is ISIS, but all of ISIS is Islam. We must accept this distinction and work with other countries if we want to end this hate that ISIS is creating in the world. The United States needs to step up and stop just condemning ISIS acts, we need to put an end to radicalized Islam and ISIS. Our government is refusing to act. They don’t understand ISIS and refuse to. It is up to us, the people, to put an end to this medieval organization. Let ISIS follow the other forms of evil that have been in history. ISIS needs to fall, just like the evil before it. We need to show them that good triumphs over evil. We need to let ISIS know that their so called “apocalypse” won’t happen. That their goal for destruction and death to the innocent will never be fulfilled. We can’t afford to be ignorant. Ignorance to this serious threat will not stop the attacks from happening, it will only provoke more. Ignorance to radical Islamic terrorism will cause the downfall of Western Civilization, which is what ISIS wants. Ignorance isn’t bliss.

Conservative Economics

Economics is a very debatable topic. Many experts argue and deliberate on numerous topics related to the economy. This makes sense, since the economy is one of, if not the most important aspect to a country's success. A great economy makes a great country. Now in today's society, citizens of the United States tend to fall into one of two categories when expressing their beliefs on economic principles: those who are Capitalist, and those who are Socialist. Now this isn't entirely black and white, right and left, and Republican and Democrat. People do fall in the middle. Debate is necessary for progress, and bipartisanship is the only way to truly make change. Well, this may be the case for some situations, but Republicans really do have the advantage when arguing economics. More capitalistic economies are objectively better than more socialist economies. Now why is that? This blog post delves into my own economic theories and what I personally believe is right. Because this ...

The Dark History of the Democratic Party

We have never been more divided as a country. We are on the brink of Civil War and there seems to be no end in sight. You have on one end, racist, intolerant, evil people protesting for hate. On the other end, you have vigilantes who resort to violence to create peace - hurting the structure of our society and putting lives in danger. Neither side is right, and both must be condemned thoroughly. Now, we have a President who refuses to condemn the alt-right. A President who is adding fuel to this side of the fire. Then America has a large group, the media and the Democratic Party's establishment, not condemning the alt-left, but instead promoting and glorifying it. This blog post, will hopefully help show the major hole in the Democratic Party's public image, and in the process, show that "Love Trumps Hate" is not always as it seems.  This is purely my own theory, based on the work done by numerous conservative writers, with one in particular. So as the title s...

The Second Amendment Shall Not Be Infringed Upon

The Bill of Rights was established by our Founding Fathers. I personally consider myself a Constitutional Conservative and believe that what the Constitution says (including the Bill of Rights) is the law of the land and is not a "living, breathing document" like others believe. With this, I believe fully in the Second Amendment. I believe that citizens have the right to bear arms and that right shall not be taken away. When it comes to the topic of gun control, it seems to me that it is only ever widely discussed during severe and dramatic instances. For example, after every mass shooting in the United States under the Obama administration, Democrats called for harsh and ridiculous gun control measures. This would be debated and argues and fought over for a few weeks after the horrific tragedy and then it would eventually fizzle out and America would direct it's focus on a different subject instead. This may seem shocking to think about, a serious topic such as gun c...
